Auteur (s) : Claude Boyoo Itaka1
Abstract :
The Democratic Republic of Congo faces several environmental challenges which call for political reflections/contradictions to identify clear strategic directions. The (presidential) electoral campaign constitutes a strategic moment for identifying the political orientations of each candidate for the governance of each societal issue. Several structural reforms to be undertaken in the country over the next five years in the environmental sector will depend on this election. That being said, this article assesses the level of consideration of the environmental issue by candidates for the 2023 presidential election in the Democratic Republic of Congo. This involves reviewing the documents of social projects and the political speeches of all the candidates, the airtime given to the theme to determine the degree of prioritization and political integration of environmental issues in the DRC.
