Résumé

Titre : Symbolique de la tradition dans la légitimation politique de l’Etat Africain

Auteur (s) : Birama Diop

Abstract :

The legitimacy of power depends largely on a group’s perception and vision at a given time.It evolves with social structures and over time. In Africa, where social values are largely internalised by the people, acceptance of or support for political power depends on the way in which they appropriate and interpret social values. This means that it is essential for those in positions of political power to respect moral and cultural beliefs, or to establish them as a mode of governance, at least in appearance, if the people are to recognise themselves in them.
